There’s been so much noise this fall — from the economy to the news cycle to just trying to get through the day-to-day — that it feels good to pause for a moment and focus on something that truly matters.
Today isn’t about the market or the headlines. It’s about gratitude. It’s about honoring the men and women who have served our country — and those who continue to protect it.
While I haven’t served personally, I come from a long line of people who have. My dad. My great uncle. My brother. Even my ex-husband — all proudly served our country. And this year, that legacy feels especially close to my heart.
In January, my younger son, Shane, will be joining the U.S. Army. To say I’m proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. Watching your child step into something so much bigger than themselves — something built on courage, commitment, and service — changes your perspective in the best way possible.
As a mom, I’m a little nervous, of course. But mostly, I’m filled with admiration. Admiration for him, and for every person who’s raised their hand and chosen to serve — to defend, protect, and lead.
So today, on Veterans Day, I just want to take a deep breath and say thank you. To my family, to my son, and to everyone who’s served — past, present, and future — your strength and sacrifice mean more than words can ever express.
Let’s all take a moment today to step back from the noise, the opinions, and the pace — and remember the people who make it possible for us to live, work, and dream freely.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you, and Godspeed to Shane, as he begins his journey in 2026.
