When people think of Las Vegas, they picture bright lights, casinos, and nonstop action. But what most don’t realize is that Las Vegas has quietly become one of the most wellness-friendly cities in the Southwest — especially for active adults and those 50+ looking for more than just entertainment.

The latest Southern Nevada Community Health Assessment, produced by the Southern Nevada Health District, paints a very different — and encouraging — picture of life in the valley.

Health and Wellness Highlights:

  • Chronic illness prevention is improving. Programs focused on heart disease, diabetes, and preventative care are making a noticeable difference across Clark County.

  • Access to care is expanding. From telehealth to community wellness events, it’s easier than ever to stay on top of your health in Las Vegas.

  • Older adults are thriving. Walkable communities, age-friendly planning, and strong social opportunities are keeping residents active and connected longer than ever before.

Living Well in the Desert

Did you know that over 75% of Southern Nevada residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park or trail? That kind of access to outdoor space is rare — and it's one of the reasons so many are rethinking what life in the desert can look like.

Even better? Medicare Advantage plans like SilverSneakers are widely accepted across local gyms and studios, meaning staying fit is not only accessible, but often free.

From hiking at Red Rock Canyon to barre and spin classes in Summerlin, to some truly great farmers markets and wellness events, Las Vegas offers far more than the stereotypes suggest.
